Charles A. Goldmark Distinguished Service Award

Each year the Board of Trustees of the Legal Foundation of Washington recognizes the outstanding work of an attorney or organization that has performed on behalf of poor people. The Charles A. Goldmark Distinguished Service Award is named in honor of Charles A. Goldmark, a prominent Seattle attorney who played a singularly important role in the creation of the interest on the lawyer’s trust account (IOLTA) program. Mr. Goldmark was president of the Legal Foundation of Washington at the time of his tragic death in January 1986.

The Goldmark Award was created in 1987 to recognize exceptional efforts in assuring equal access to justice. In assessing candidates, the Foundation trustees look for outstanding work that has a recognizable, positive impact on low-income residents of Washington State, and that furthers the goals and objectives of the Legal Foundation of Washington.

Nominations for the annual Goldmark Distinguished Service Award must be submitted to the nominating committee by September each year.  See below for more information.
